11th International Sparkasse Baden Chess Open
From 25 to 30 August 2026 the Schachklub Sparkasse Baden is holding the 11th International
Sparkasse Baden Chess Open in the Gemeindezentrum Pfaffstätten, an atmospheric winegrower's house
from the 16th century in the wine and spa region near Baden.
Play is under the Swiss system over 7 rounds, with a time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves plus
30 minutes and 30 seconds per move from the first move. Three tournaments are open to all playing
strengths: the King's tournament (from int. Elo 1850), the Rook tournament (up to int. Elo 1849) and the
Knight tournament for players below nat. Elo 1450.
A prize fund of 3,000 euros and numerous prizes in kind await the participants. As a prelude, a blitz
tournament takes place on Monday, 24 August, from 18:30 – free of charge for tournament participants
who pre-register.
